Location Drawing Exercise

 Thursday 1st October, 2015

For the first session of the physical studio with tutor John Kelly, we went around the town center of Huddersfield to do some location drawings, using physical observations to create some work. The areas we went were on the high street, the plaza beside the library and the gothic district.

Workshop - Physical Process works;

As you can see, we were tasked with drawing different buildings but by using a different style for each piece. For example, in the first I have merged both line and type to structure the image, the next showing a mixture of both fine liner and marker pens to show a contrast in media types. When I looked to the buildings for something to focus on for the drawing, rather than trying to sketch the whole object I would pick out certain aspects of it and focus on those, these being windows, shutters, the corner of the buildings - so on and so forth.

This was done in order to get a good quantity of work created in the given time alongside being able to make sure the quality of the work was also good enough.
