Coming into the first of term two's Process and Production workshops, John Kelly's set work for this term was discussed with the group before we were set on our design work. For this term we are using reference images and material of various shapes and that hold different forms and will be adapting these images into our own typefaces. Over the course of three sessions we will have created the first trial set of letters for the typeface with the letters 'anesg', and then in the second creating a rough set alphabet of letters - lowercase/uppercase and then for the final session going on to create the type on the computer.
So, for this first session the design's that I had ended up creating with the letters 'anesg' are all displayed below:
Some of these typefaces were derived from movements and art styles from the likes of Muller-Brockmann and other Swiss Designers of his time - the piece most influenced by his 'beethoven' poster would be the first image. In the second image it became slightly more experimental as I used some more varied examples of work in creating my previews. Some being rather abstract in nature and hard to understand unless they are arranged in a certain way.
These are the typefaces that will be referenced back to when reaching the second design session for this terms physical studio.
