Sound Visualisation

Monday 1st February 2016

Monday mornings theory as practice lecture we were run through some different methods that could be used for a sound visualisation. The first responses that were given as examples were graphical responses to electronic sound, these being; Notation - marks on paper, frequency and oscillation, harmonics and vibration and digital responses. This is to introduce ideas to sound visualisation. A quote from Nikola Tesla, the creator of electricity said "If you want to find the secrets of the universe think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration."

Notation was considered the birth of sound visualisation. This was quickly adapted into the telegraphy and morse code of sound visualisation, this was the early text messaging. As the course of the lecture continued, there were varied topics that were also covered through lecture. Some of them being, Frequency and Oscillation, Harmonics and Vibration, and looking at some more modern and digital responses, via Adobe programs and such.
