Convergence

Convergence, convergence is something that is used when different media's are brought together in an effort to strengthen a piece of design work. For example, in the industry of Graphic Design, designers aren't unknown to commission work from other areas of the industry in order to create a final piece for a brief. The other mediums that may be approached for such occasions can range from photography to illustration to animation.

Within this lecture, convergence was picked apart and displayed through an array of different aspects of which this could be taken and set across the various disciplines. A good way of looking at Convergence within the industry, from what I took from this lecture at the least, is to be able to respect the different disciplines of design and know who can do what to the best of their ability, and what power certain individuals should have over others in the many situations. The lecture also covered how the different areas of the industry are linked, and what brings some together more so than others, i.e. photography and animation, they can both contribute to such areas of design as videos made up of stop motion for example.
